MOCOSIK.COM - The Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) of Jombang Regency continues to carry out road maintenance activities at several points.
The maintenance, which includes repairing damaged roads, focuses on several alternative routes that have been damaged due to heavy vehicles passing through them.
One of these routes is the Gondekan-Gudo and Brambang-Jatipelem roads in the Diwek Jombang sub-district. These two roads have suffered significant damage at several points.

For the repair of the Gondekan-Gudo and Brambang-Jatipelem roads, hotmix asphalt material was used. Bayu Pancoroadi, the Head of the PUPR Agency of Jombang Regency, explained that these two routes have suffered significant damage, which is not surprising since they are alternative routes to the southern region of the city and have been frequently used by heavy vehicles due to the diversion of traffic from the national road construction project on the main Jatipelem-Perak road.
"The high volume of heavy vehicle traffic with tonnage exceeding the road's capacity eventually triggered road damage,"said the former Head of Water Resources Division.
According to Bayu, the purpose of repairing these alternative roads from Jombang to Kediri is to restore them to their original condition, which means filling in potholes using hotmix materials.
"We want the road to be in its functional condition, after being affected by the national road construction project on the Temuwulan-Jatipelem turn to Perak route. Since all the vehicles passing through exceed the tonnage, significant road damage has occurred,"explained Bayu.
In addition to repairing the road, road maintenance is also aimed at minimizing the potential for traffic accidents.
A potholed road can be very dangerous for road users, especially two-wheeled vehicles, when it is flooded by rainwater. Therefore, it is essential to repair the road as soon as possible," said Bayu Pancoroadi.
After repairing the Gondekan-Gudo and Brambang-Jatipelem roads, the process is expected to make road users comfortable and safe when passing through these routes. Thus, accidents will not occur again.
On the other hand, Bayu hopes that vehicles passing through the Jatipelem to Gudo route will also understand and comply with the road classification rules.

This is because the road classification in the regency is categorized as Class Three with a maximum weight of 8 tons. "If it exceeds the road classification, road damage is guaranteed to occur quickly," said Bayu.
